Lower seat, less bouncy suspension and a more sporting attitude. That bike has manual preload and damping adjustment on the rear shock absorber, cornering ABS, Dynamic traction control, two riding modes road and rain and the TFT display common to all BMWs this year.
From all BMWs above cc also come with a tracker fitted as standard too. I really wish we could get away from our obsession with power figures because, increasingly, now so many bikes have so much of it, they no longer reflect how fast a bike will feel. Not the same performance as the F though, even though the two engines are essentially the same. Us too. Like the FGS before it, which used a de-tuned version of the old cc motor, this new F is actually cc. No, we never understood it either, but clearly the Germans do have a sense of humour.
This heavily-revised, parallel-twin engine, launched in is very different from the old F motor. The dummy third-piston that smoothed out the vibes in the old motor has been replaced with dual balancer shafts and the exhaust has been moved from the left to the right hand side because, when lifting up and pushing a stricken GS off-road, riders complained that they usually stood on the left and the hot exhaust could burn their clothing.
BMW twins of the last ten years, whether in a parallel or boxer layout have a distinct personality. The other thing this motor does really well though is the more laid-back stuff. Where big twins can be a bit chuggy through town or cruising at motorway speeds, the middleweights tend to be smoother and a bit perkier too at low speeds nipping in and out of traffic.
The gearchange is very slick with a light clutch and accurate shifting. Neutral can be a bit stiff to select on occasion, but you soon get used to it. Sadly, the price you pay for an engine that punches so far above its weight is that fuel consumption in loopy mode reminds you that shifting a certain amount of weight at a certain velocity requires a certain amount of energy.
Over the full test period it averaged 57mpg with a best of 65mpg on a motorway run. This bike has the optional ESA electronic suspension adjustment.
The chassis is the same as the FGS with a seat height of just mm the F is mm and standard suspension is simple, but effective with minimal adjustment. Front forks are very different from the long-travel upside-down items on the FGS, but all the better for it on the road. But it feels more compact and easier to throw around than the F and as nimble in the corners as an MT Steering geometry is relatively lazy as is the wheelbase so it seems odd-but-reassuring to see a steering damper fitted above the bottom yoke.
Our test bike had the optional ESA electronically-adjusted suspension pack which has two modes; Road and Dynamic. Road has softer spring rates and damping settings for comfort, but also controls the suspension surprisingly well on twisty back roads.
Dynamic is the sportier setting, but I found it a bit too harsh on the bumpier back roads. You can set the suspension settings independently of the riding modes and I found road suspension with dynamic engine mode to be the best overall setting. The Brembo twin-piston calipers are the same as fitted to the FGS, but they seem to work better on the F with more immediate bite. Whatever the reason, the FGS brakes with more confidence and precision than the bigger bike.
I found the seat more comfortable over distance than the FGS, although, to be fair I did more long journeys on the bigger bike. After undergoing a significant update in that included tweaked exterior styling, a refreshed engine lineup and more in-car tech, the BMW 7 Series continues into essentially unchanged. We're fine with that, as last year's updates helped the 7 Series maintain its second-place Edmunds ranking among large luxury sedans. The 7 Series is loaded with all the latest tech BMW has to offer and is impressively spacious and comfortable.
Of course, there are alternatives. Each one represents the best these automakers have to offer, from the latest driver aids and in-car tech to powerful yet fuel-efficient engines. We think the sixth-generation 7 Series is just about the best around and well worth consideration if you're in the market for a big, comfortable and tech-laden sedan. The major difference between the trims comes down to the powertrain, though some features and options further separate the trims.
The i xDrive is the same but with all-wheel drive. Standard feature highlights for both models include:. It pairs a turbocharged 3. It also improves fuel economy and can do an estimated 16 miles of all-electric driving. Features mirror those on the i xDrive, including all-wheel drive, although the e xDrive iPerformance has unique interior accents. All-wheel drive is standard. It has everything on the i plus:.
Mi xDrive The Mi xDrive is the range-topping model. It's powered by a turbocharged 6. As with other xDrive models, all-wheel drive is standard. The Mi xDrive is loaded with features, including:. Optional Packages The 7 Series is available with a number of option packages that bundle additional features together. Be the first to write a review. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been the benchmark for the large luxury sedan segment for decades. It's loaded with Mercedes' latest and greatest tech and driver aids, though what's available in the BMW is generally comparable.
It offers nearly identical passenger and cargo space as the 7 Series, though you should expect to pay slightly more for the Benz. We rate the S-Class slightly higher than the 7 Series, but it's hard to go wrong with either car. The Audi A8 was recently redesigned, helping it look and feel a little more fresh than the 7 Series. This page is for personal, non-commercial use.

We get it. Ads can be annoying. But ads are also how we keep the garage doors open and the lights on here at Autoblog - and keep our stories free for you and for everyone. The BMW 7 Series checks all the boxes for a flagship luxury sedan.
Like any good flagship, it comes loaded with every trick in the automaker's bag, starting with an expansive interior trimmed in high-quality materials, incredible attention to detail, a raft of advanced technology features, and an array of powertrains with immense power. A flagship luxury sedan's other defining characteristic is an eye-watering price tag, and here the 7 Series is no different.
You don't need to go to that extreme, though. A base 7 Series with its turbo six-cylinder engine and generous list of standard features still makes a fine luxury vessel for less than six figures. Forthe 7 Series gets a new look, starting with a prominent new grille design that is boldly comical or comically bold, depending on your perspective. All 7 Series engines receive power upgrades.
Our chief complaint remains, but we've become less vocal about it: The 7 Series is no longer the driver-focused luxury sled it once was. Successive revisions and weight gains have muted its once-agile handling character in favor of increased comfort, isolation and straight-line speed. The results speak for themselves, and the 7 Series is still a capable all-around performer.
And with its opulent and roomy interior, it remains a great choice for a flagship luxury sedan. There are some slight variations in available features, but the main differences relate to powertrains.
The base i sedan starts with a turbocharged 3. The e xDrive iPerformance plug-in hybrid uses a turbocharged 3. At the top of the 7 Series range is the flagship Mi xDrivepowered by a massive 6. Each version of the 7 Series employs an eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Only the i comes with standard rear-wheel drive. All other trims come with all-wheel drive only, denoted as xDrive. There isn't much that the entry i doesn't offer, either as standard equipment or through available options. Highlights of the i's standard features include an adaptive air suspension, a power trunklid and power-closing doors. Inside, you'll find a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and tech features that include a Standard safety features include forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
The e xDrive iPerformance has the same standard features as the i but comes with unique interior accents. Upgrading to the i gives you the bigger V8 engine and extra standard luxuries such as premium leather upholstery and a head-up display.Pandas columns index object is not callable
The Mi xDrivemeanwhile, adds the V12 engine and a handful of extra luxury touches, including massaging front seats, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, power rear side window shades, and rear seats that slide and recline. The 7 Series offers several option packages, notably the Autobahn package that adds variable-ratio steering and a system that scans road conditions and automatically adjusts the car's adaptive suspension.
The Driving Assistance Plus package equips adaptive cruise control and semi-automated driving features. For maximum passenger comfort, there's the Luxury Rear Seating package heated, ventilated and massaging rear seats and Rear Executive Lounge Seating package a rear-seat entertainment system and reclining rear seats with extendable footrests.
Write a review. See all 3 reviews. The other grand dame of full-size luxury sedans, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has history and tradition as well as modern technology and features. Unless you opt for a performance-oriented version, the S-Class isn't as sharp a driver's car as the admittedly dulled 7 Series, but it's still a glorious piece of work. It's hard to go wrong either way. The Audi A8 is fully redesigned forand this newest A8 is a full-size luxury sedan straight out of the future.
Of course, there's plenty of attention to detail as well as a refined driving experience, space and quality. But the A8 sets itself apart with technology features and interfaces that look and feel ahead of their time. The 7 Series' little brother, the 5 Series, gives you slightly less luxury and less space, and there's no V12 option. My Travel Consultant Ms.

Cecilia Markov ensured that everything worked perfectly well without any glitches. I would strongly recommend such excellent services to anyone who would like to have an unforgettably pleasant holiday.9 tecnologie abilitanti industria 4.0
I highly recommend booking your nordic trip with Nordic Visitor. Gudrun and her colleagues provided exception service from my very first email inquiry.
I was kept informed of the status of my booking and complete details were emailed in plenty of time to review and ask questions prior to my departure to Iceland.
My only regret was that I didn't stop by their office in Reykjavik to say "hello" and thank them for a job well done. All of the tours that were part of the New Year's Eve package were great. The guides were are very warm and friendly and really wanted their guests to feel comfortable and have a great time.
I'm so looking forward to visiting Iceland again and will definitely book my trip through Nordic Visitor. We have just returned from Iceland where we enjoyed a self drive tour arranged by Nordic visitor. Our advisor listened to our requirements which included the better hotels and included the golden circle tour. We especially enjoyed our trip to the glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon. A pretty long drive from Vik where we stayed the night before and on fairly tricky roads as there had been a good snowfall but worth the trip.
The hotels were of a good standard generally especially Hotel Borg in Reykjavik a delightful Art Deco hotel. Iceland is expensive but we thought the tour good value for money with good information packs and also a mobile phone provided for our use while in Iceland. Reassuring with the snow. We appreciated the maps and materials provided by our travel agent. The maps of the area made our drive so easy and uncomplicated. Her outlining of the itinerary both on the map and the spiral book made our trip uncomplicated and relaxing.
All materials provided in our travel bag were used daily, and the big Iceland Road Guide was a great addition. We read that every evening. Nice addition to our travel package. The continental breakfasts were fresh and we were able to sample many of the traditional Icelandic foods such as Skyr, lamb and Lax. We enjoyed our evening meals tremendously. We felt at home and look forward to returning soon.

Our four-day trip was a non-stop adventure. Nordic Visitor, whom I would highly recommend, put together a bespoke itinerary for us based on our requests. Our consultant, Gudrun, was enormously helpful, especially when we requested an itinerary change with only about 24 hours notice, which she dealt with very efficiently and professionally. The itinerary included a Northern Lights tour, whale-watching and a visit to the Blue Lagoon but the highlight was the Golden Circle full-day tour.
My husband and I had done it a few years previously and wanted our three boys (now aged 8, 10 and 11) to experience it as it is a great introduction to this amazing country. The boys were amazed (more than we had expected, to be honest) by the stunning scenery, thrilled by the off-road driving and impressively explosive geysir, and totally delighted to be able to let off steam in a snowball fight on a real glacier.
We have come home with fantastic memories and cannot recommend this beautiful country enough, even though we only really scratched the surface of all it has to offer.
Even better than we needed on a quick tour. All transportation connections were excellent, and the agents and conductors accepted invoices with no problems. It saved us much effort in figuring out how to get from Bergen, on to Flam, up the special steep train trip from Flan, and then the train for Oslo.
